Dr. Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University (DSMNRU) is a public university located in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. It was established on 9th September 2008 by the Government of Uttar Pradesh under an Act of State Legislature and has been recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The primary mission of DSMNRU is to provide world-class education, research and training to people with disabilities.



The university aims to become a centre of excellence for providing special education and training to people with disabilities in the country. It seeks to create a barrier-free environment so that students with disabilities can learn without any difficulty. DSMNRU offers various courses like Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Bachelor’s Degree in Vocational Education, Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education and Sports Sciences and many more over different streams. The university provides generous scholarships for deserving students from economically weaker sections of society as well as physically challenged students. 

Apart from academic programs, DSMNRU also provides vocational training courses like Computer Training Course for Physically Challenged Persons, Braille Typing Course for Visually Impaired Persons etc which help them gain employment opportunities or become self-sufficient. The university also organizes extracurricular activities like sports competitions, cultural events and speech competitions to promote overall health & well-being among its students.
